1. Vad är det här med CE-märkning, egentligen?
Enligt EU's Fritidsbåtsdirektiv och Sjöfartsverkets riktlinjer så ska i princip alla fritidsbåtar som importerats från s.k. 3:e land (dvs land utanför EU) efter juni -98 vara säkerhetstestade för att uppfylla CE-standard. 

2. Vad krävs för att min båt ska bli CE-märkt?
För att bli CE-godkänd krävs att din båt inspekteras av en besiktningsman som är auktoriserad genom ett s.k. godkänt anmält organ. Besiktningsmannen måste fysiskt inspektera din båt för att utföra ett antal tester som t ex krängningshämning. Andra aspekter som kontrolleras är brandsäkerhet, gnistbildning i motorrum, och ett stort antal andra säkerhetsföreskrifter. 

När testerna är gjorda dokumenteras de enligt gällande normer. Din båt tilldelas ett nytt skrovnummer (HIN) med en ny tillverkarkod. Du tilldelas all erforderlig dokumentation som handböcker och testresultat. Båten blir även försedd med den så eftertraktade CE-skylten.

3. Vem utför CE-inspektionen?
För att vara säker på att din båt blir testad på ett enl. EU riktigt sätt så krävs det att båten inspekteras av en fackman. De godkända inspektörer som vi samarbetar med arbetar på heltid med CE-märkning och ISO-standarder för en tysk ingenjörsfirma som har 4 st filialer runt om i Europa.

1. What is this CE-certification anyhow?
Recent EU legislation and more specifically the European Recreational Craft Directive (Annex XIII, 94725/EC) suggests that most recreational vessels which are imported from a country outside of the EU (for example the U.S.) shall be certified for safety and conformity -- CE-certified.

2. What is required for my boat to be CE-certified?
In order for your boat to be certified and CE-approved it needs to be surveyed of authorized personnel who represents a so called notified body. The inspector must physically inspect your boat and conduct various safety and compliance tests. When the tests are concluded your boat will be assigned a new HIN (hull identification number) that includes the approved manufacturing code of the notified body. In addition, your boat will be equipped with the so sought-after CE-mark in the form of a plate that is mounted on your vessel. You will also receive test results, manuals, and recommendations for your reference and archives (some insurance companies in the EU now require your boat to be CE-certified to receive lower, more competitive insurance premium).

3. Who is doing the CE-certification?
To ensure that your boat is tested according to EU specifications it needs to be carried out by a professional. The approved surveyors that we recommend work full-time with CE-certifications and ISO standards for a German engineering bureau which has branches around Europe.

The surveyors come well recommended. They work directly with several boat manufacturers, helping them with ISO and CE-standards directly from the manufacturing plants. The surveyors are also recommended by representatives for one of Germany's largest insurance companies, Gothaer (3.5 million customers, € 4 billion in turnover).

Zusätzlich wird das Boot mit der CE-Markierung in Form einer Plakette ausgerüstet, die an Ihrem Boot angebracht wird.
